Primercatcher ICE (Integrated Case Ejector)

Winter season is over and (for me at least...) shooting and reloading season has started.... I was always looking for a case ejector / case kicker to accelerate the reloading on my RC IV/Supreme, but with the price they ask for it, I could not get myself to buy one. Solution to that - design a primer catcher that has the case ejector integrated.

Here it is - the newest Primercatcher product !!
The first really well working model of the Pimercatcher ICE (Integrated Case Ejector)

Here's a short video of it in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uWerWLsf_M

Production of this new model will start toward mid of March and can be ordered (or pre-odered if out of stock - typical shipping time is 5-10 days after order receipt for out of stock cacthers) now!

New catchers for RCBS JR and RCBS Partner presses

We continue to expand our Primercatcher product line and it was a rather busy summer here and besides enjoying a few cigars and a drink on the deck, I was working on getting some additional presses covered!

Here on the right hand side are a few pictures of the new model for the RCBS Partner press - the final version is so fresh that the pictures here are just the prior model. The one that will ship is a little bit more curved, but otherwise works the same way. It slips on from the top and primers are being collected in the tube that connects on the right hand side.

The other picture here is of for catcher for the RCBS JR (Junior) press. This one is similar to the one we have for the RCBS Rock Chucker / Rock Chucker II, but there is an indent in the middle of the catcher to allow full handle operation and the primer drop tube is on the left, so it is not in the way... I don't have any photos of the JR one yet, but below is a design rendering of it!

2017 production in full swing

We started the production of the latest batch of primer catchers just a few weeks ago and have a good number in stock right now.

Besides testing different colors, we also added a special order feature where you can add your name printed on the top of the catcher (it is raised about 2mm/0.08"). It looks really cool and gives the catcher the final touch, making it "truly yours". Let us know, if you would like to trade your non-personalized one (it is fine if it has been used, is dirty and scratched!) for one with the name on it - you ship us the old one back and we will get your personalized one printed for you. The cost including shipping is $7.50 and it will take a few days to have it manufactured. If you are interested in it, please send us an e-mail to info AT primercatcher.com.

Colors... we have tested pretty much every color that is available in ABS and PLA. ABS and PLA are the plastics that we use and the best looking ones are in dark green, light green and black. White looks neat, but gets quite dirty soon after they are in use. However, if you prefer a different color (red, blue, yellow, pink etc.), let us know and if that color is available, we will print one for you in your personal color. The up-charge for this is $5.00. If you let us pick the color, it will probably come in green, but there is no guarantee as we ship them based on what we have in stock at the time the order was placed (we guarantee, it will not be pink though!)

Additional models

As you most likely know, the current primer catcher model only works for the RCBS Rock Chucker IV press, older presses (e.g. the ones that throw the spent primer out in the front) are not supported yet.

In 2017, we will have support for the older RCBS presses - the product development is in full swing and the first proto types are being tested. However, as with the current primer catcher model, we want to make sure that we can fully stand behind the product quality and therefore, some more fine tuning will be required before we release this model.

While we initially anticipated having a working model for the older RCBS II presses ready by now, we are still not happy with the functionality and usability of the press when the catcher is installed. If you are interested in a primer catcher for the older press, send us an e-mail (info AT primercatcher.com) and we will send you an e-mail with an update as soon as we have a product that we are satisfied with and that is ready for you.

For January 2017, we have added our new AR15 vise block to the product lineup. It can be used as a standard AR15 vise block that is being inserted into the mag well like a magazine, or if you need to work on the lower receiver in a different way, the vise block can also be inserted from the top (after the upper receiver has been removed) which gives you a little bit more flexibility when clamping it into the vise.

In Feburary 2017 then, we will add a few more products to the catalogue. Coming soon:

  • the AR15 10 round speed loader,
  • the AR10 speed loader (8 rounds only due to size limitations),
  • and a speedloader for HK91/G3/PTR91/Cetme style magazines (also 8 rounds),

Progress on primer catcher for older RCBS press (RC II)

Since the article in Handloader magazine came out, I received may questions regarding support for the older RCBS presses, specifically the RC 2.

While it is not 100% ready to sell, I wanted to share a few pics and show everybody how it will most likely look like. The core version is very similar to the factory one with two major modifications.

The first modification being the tube connector so the primers can be collected in the tube or be directed directly into the trash bin.

The second one is the higher wall in front to prevent primers from jumping over the rim

The third modification is a slope in the primer tray bottom so some of them will fall down automatically and for the remaining ones, it is an easy push down to the tube.

And here are some pictures (the catcher is actually green, I have not figured out yet why the camera makes such a nice Dillon color out of it...

Any comments and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated and welcome!
